The Gower Branch is a half-mile canal that links the New Main Line Canal (on the Birmingham level, 453 above sea level, to the Old Main Line Canal on the Wolverhampton level, at 453 feet above sea level.
There are 3 locks, the Brades Locks, that traverse the 20 foot difference between the 2 canals.
The Gower Branch allows traffic from the Netherton Tunnel to directly access either the Old Main Line Canal or the New Main Line Canal.
